Introduction: Summer and Fall 2003

Well, we slowly trapped and had those cats fixed, but before we could do everybody, Stacy had more kittens in August 2003.  She had a total of seven then, but one died on September 2003.  The others are:

  • Tick: female (spayed), tiger striped.  Sadly Tick was hit by a car and died on 02/24/04.
  • 3D: male (neutered), white with spot.  His name comes from "Third Dalmatian".  Sadly 3D was hit by a car and died on 07/19/04.
  • Tock: female (spayed), tiger striped.  Tock has her own personality, she is not very social (with other cats).  She usually disapears for several days then comes back.
  • Platinum: female (spayed), grey and white.
  • Noemie: female (spayed), tiger striped and white.
  • Six Toe: male (neutered), tiger striped.  He has six toes on both his front paws (hence his name).  He is also known as Slinky, because he used to roll down the stairs like a slinky.

Also, a couple more cats appeared in November 2003, which we don't know where they came from.

  • Bob: male, tiger striped and white.  He was first called "The Second Noemie".  Sadly Bob was hit by a car and died on 01/01/05.  I saw it happen, the car was going so fast that Bob didn't have a chance. He died in Me's arms... just one week after Lucie died.
  • Larry: male (neutered), tiger striped and white.  He was first called "The Third Noemie" and used to be with Bob all the time.  We think that they were brothers as they appeared at the same time.  Larry seemed to be affected by Bob's death.

Introduction: Spring 2003

Of course all those cats had kittens in the spring...

  • Tiger had some kittens in April 2003.  We don't know which ones.
  • Pat also had some kittens in April 2003.  We know that she is the mother of Gladys and Cletus.
Gladys: female (now spayed), all white except for her tail and the top of her head which are striped.
Cletus: male (now neutered), white with some grey spots (like a dalmatian). He killed Lucie on 12/25/04.
  • Stacy had five kittens in April 2003, but a little tiger striped one died in May 2003.
Oscar: male, tiger striped and white. Nicknamed "The Child".  Sadly Oscar was hit by a car and died on 08/12/03.
Leon: male, tiger striped and white. Nicknamed "The Baby".  Sadly Leon was hit by a car and died on 12/26/03.
Leo: male (neutered), white with spots ("The Dalmatian").
Emily: female (spayed), tiger striped and white.  Emily is the "princess" of the family.
  • Number 5: male (neutered), dark tiger striped and white.  He appeared in April 2003.  He may be one of Tiger's children.  He got the name Number 5, because Stacy's four babies would sleep on the porch together and I would often check on them and count them ("one, two, three, four, everybody is here"), but one day it went "one, two, three, four, five, everybody is here! Wait a minute, who is number 5?"
  • Twenty-Five: female, dark tiger striped and white.  She looked very similar to Number 5, with a little bit more white.  We thinks that she was his sister.  She got the name of Twenty-Five because she was the second number 5.  She disapeared on 08/21/04, leaving 8 kittens behind (more about this later...)
  • Alex: male (neutered), grey.  He appeared in Spring 2003.

Introduction: In the Beginning...

No, I am not going to write the Bible...  I am just going to start with the cats that were on the farm when we moved in (Fall 2002).

  • Winty: male, white with striped spots.  We haven't seen him in months.
  • Snicker Sr.: Black and White.  We haven't seen him in months either.
  • Robin: red striped and white.  Has not been seen in months.
  • Tiger: female (now spayed) dark tiger striped.  She is still around.
  • Pat: female (now spayed) tiger striped and white.  She is still around.
  • Stacy: female (now spayed) tiger striped and white.  She is still around.

Pat and Stacy look very much alike and always hang out together.  We suspect that they are litter mate.  Stacy has a "thumb" on her right front paw.

First Night and Second Day

This is going to be tough to come up with titles!!!

I had to stay late at work last night to make up the time since I came in late in the morning.  The good thing about this was that traffic wasn't too bad leaving work.
Toni and Luther insisted on riding in my knitting bag.  They said that the yarn in it should protect them in case of impact (I don't think they trust my driving...)

All the "children" were seen last night except for Number 5.  Noemie seems to be doing better, she ate some chicken and some canned food.  We had a pretty good thunderstorm last night with losts of ligthning (good thing I didn't have to sleep with the Dinosaur!), so the "children" couldn't decide if they wanted to be inside or outside.  Actually I think they wanted to be outside but not in the rain... which was not an option.  Only Emily (with Apollo of course!) spent the night inside.

Not much going on here at work...

First Knitting Post - Trying to summarize WIP

Well, as usual I've got a few things currently on my needles, and I am sure I am going to forget some...

The top priority project (or should I say projects) is two cardigans.  They are for our neighbor's twin daughters who are about to celebrate their second birthday.  They are having a neighborhood party on July 16 for the occasion, so I figured I had to make them something.

  • Yarn: Plymouth Encore Worsted
  • Needles: 4 mm and US 9
  • Pattern: from A&J Starmore "The Children Collection": Child's Mendicino

My second priority project is a doilly for the wedding of Pastor's daughter on July 30th.  I am using 100% linen thread and 1.5 mm needles (I can't remember the size of the thread off hand).

I am also working on the Balmoral (thistle design) from Marianne Kinzel's Second book of Modern Lace Knitting.  I kind of got it started as a knit a long with the laceknitters group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/laceknitters/).  I am making it into a shawl using lace weight merino wool in a light grey and 3.5 mm needles.  I am going for the dinner cloth size.

I also started the "Mystery Stole" (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mysterystolealong/), but didn't get too far due to the priority projects.

I am also working on my level I for the Master Hand Knitting program.

Those are the main projects right now that I can think off, but I should be working on Christmas presents soon...

I recently finished two baby blankets (for the June 12th) baby shower.

First Day & Bergère de France order

Me got on the train this morning around 9:00 as he is starting his assignment tomorrow. After dropping him off I went to work. Not much going on there. We had our monthly division meeting, but nothing new there either.

I place my order with Bergère de France through Direct Laine in Canada. This is what I ordered:

  • Cotonature – Ceramique (Light Blue): 6 skeins
  • Cotonature – Lupin (Light Purple): 6 skeins
  • Cotonature – Giroflee (Yellow): 2 skeins
  • Ciboulette – Diamant (White): 10 skeins (I was going to get 20, but they said they only had 10 left)
  • Ciboulette – Zebulon (Light green): 10 skeins
  • Instructions on CD

I originally wasn’t going to order the Cotonature, but looking at Bergère de France’s website where they show the yarn selection for next year, it looks like it is going to be discontinued. So, since I’ve been wanting to try it, I figured I’d better get it while I still can.
