The maple tree is gone :(

Well, Me arrived Friday evening as planned.  We ate at our favorite Italian restaurant before coming home.  We got home to find out that the maple tree to the east of the house was down.  It broke at the base.  There must have been some pretty strong wind because another tree further up the road also came down and the entire neighborhood was without electricity.  The good thing is that the tree fell away from the house, and not on the house!  The bad thing is that the tree took the power line that feeds the house down with it.  Me called the electric company but they never came.  Saturday morning our landlord and others (including Me), chopped up the tree and put the line back up, which fortunately was OK.  I am going to miss that tree.  It provided us with shade, acted as a wind breaker, shelter for birds and playground for the cats…
