Stacy
Last night was very sad. When we got home, we found Stacy in the middle of the road in front of the house, dead. She had been hit by a car. We miss her a lot! She never let us touch her but we still love her.
Hier soir fut très triste. Lorsque nous sommes arrivés a la maison, nous avons trouvé Stacy au milieu de la route devant la maison, morte. Elle a été heurtée par une voiture. Elle nous manque beaucoup! Elle ne nous a jamais laissé la toucher mais nous l'aimons quand même.
She was here on the property with her twin sister Patwhen we moved in in the fall of 2002. We don't know for certain that they are sisters, but they look almost identical and are always together. I don't know how Pat is going to react to the disapearance of Stacy. Stacy was the mother of Oscar (+), Leon (+), Emily, Leo and another kitten (+) in the spring of 2003. She was also in the spring of 2004 the mother of Tick (+), 3D (+), Tock, Six Toe, Platinum, Noemie and another kitten (+). When we moved in, she was all skin and bones and giving birth to all those kittens didn't help. We were finally able to trap her and had her fixed and she was much healthier after that, and I'm sure much happier too! Even though she would stay just beyond arm's reach, she did trust us enough to bring her kittens (the 2004 litter) to the kitchen porch and leave them there for a while. So I would watch them and feed them, then a couple of hours later she would come back and everybody would go back to the barn. I'm sure she taught them "this is where you come for food"...
Elle était ici sur la propriété avec sa soeur jumelle Pat lorsque nous avons emménagé à l'automne 2002. Nous ne savons pas pour certain qu'elles sont soeurs, mais elles sont presque identiques et sont toujours ensembles. Je ne sais pas comment Pat va réagir a la disparition de Stacy. Stacy était la mère d'Oscar (+), Leon (+), Emily, Leo et un autre chaton (+) au printemps 2003. Elle était aussi au printemps 2004 la mère de Tick (+), 3D (+), Tock, Six Toe, Platinum, Noemie et un autre chaton (+). Lorsque nous avons emménagé elle n'avait que la peau sur les os et donner naissance à tous ces chatons n'a pas aidé. Finallement nous avons pu l'attraper et l'avons faite stériliser et elle a eu bien meilleure forme depuis, et je suis sure qu'elle était beaucoup plus heureuse aussi! Malgré qu'elle restait juste au delà de portée, elle nous faisait assez confiance pour nous aporter ses chatons (la portée de 2004) sur le porche de la cuisine et les laisser là pour un certain temps. Alors je m'occupais d'eux et leur donnais à manger, puis quelques heures plus tard elle revenait et tout le monde retournait à la grange. Je suis certaine qu'elle leur a appris "c'est ici que vous venez pour manger"...
We feed the cats in the barn twice a day and if we are late for feeding time, Pat and Stacy would come down the sidewalk from the barn to the house, walking side by side and rubbing against each other. Then they would complain a the door. This place is not going to be the same without Stacy; she was part of it. I still can't believe that I won't see her again coming down the sidewalk with Pat.
Nous donnons à manger aux chats dans la grange deux fois par jour et si nous sommes en retard, Pat et Stacy viennent à la maison depuis la grange, côte à côte et se frottant l'une contre l'autre. Puis elles viennent se plaindre à la porte. Cet endroit ne va pas être le même sans Stacy; elle en faisait partie. Je n'arrive toujours pas à croire que je ne la verrai plus marcher sur le trotoir avec Pat.

Not much going on... Pas grand chose...
Yep, that's right, not much going on here... just work, work, work... and a little bit of spinning and knitting.
Ben oui, il ne se passe pas grand chose ici... juste travail, travail, travail... et un petit peu de filage et tricot.

This last picture was taking looking out in the front yard. I was trying to take a picture of our neighbor plowing (no, not in the foreground, those are geese along the creek!).
Cette dernière photo a été prise depuis notre cour de devant la maison. J'étais en train d'essayer de prendre une photo de notre voisin en train de labourer (non, pas au premier plan, ce sont des oies le long du cours d'eau!).
Once in a while, we get visited by deers...

I also managed to get some pictures of some of our wild children. First this is Artesia; she won't let us get near her at all, but lives in the barn.
J'ai aussi réussi à prendre des photos de nos enfants sauvages. Tout d'abord, voici Artesia; elle ne nous laisse pas l'approcher mais elle habite dans la grange.
Then, this is JC. JC is the brother/sister (?) of George and Jack, but as opposed to his/her brothers, he/she won't come in the house.
Ensuite, voici JC. JC est le frère/soeur (?) de George et Jack, mais contrairement à ses freres, il/elle ne vient pas dans la maison.
