Introduction: Spring 2004, the birth of Apollo

Twenty-Five had eight kittens on August 4, 2004.  She had them under the bench which is on our kitchen porch.  She eventually moved them inside the workshop.  They were all black and white and except for one, they all had more black than white.  They were all male.

The problem is that Twenty-Five disapeared on August 21, 2004, leaving eight two-week old orphans.  We don't know what happened to her, maybe the fox got her.  So I rescued the kittens and took them to the vet.  One had to be put to sleep and I was sent home with the others to hand-feed every couple of hours.  It all went well for a couple of days, but then some started not to look so good; so back to the vet.  They kept them overnight and three more didn't make it.  So we brought back home only five kittens.  The vet put some colored tape around their necks in order to identify them, and that's how we temporary named them: Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and White.  Blue was not doing so good when we brought him home and he didn't make it the night.  Since we couldn't hand-feed them around the clock ourselves (due to work), we entrusted them to one of the vet assistant.  But even in her care, they died one after the other and only one survived: Apollo, who I believe was "White".  In November 2004, we adopted Apollo (his foster Mom named him and we kept the name).

Apollo has his own personality.  I'm sure that he believes he is human, or maybe that we are cats....or that he is human and we are cats...  He definitely loves being with people, probably because he has been handled and with people ever since he was two weeks old.
